Projects And Goals For 2004
Supporting Ijaw Pastors & Student Pastors ($8,400.00)
NIM will continue to support it's Ijaw Pastors. Additionally we will be picking up the full support of the Student Pastors in training, preparing to enter the ministry. This is a significant increase since our enrollment has doubled as a result of our recent crusades. While this is great news, and represents the Lord's Hand moving to provide laborers for the harvest, we will be looking for a broad increase in our contributor base. Remember, an Ijaw Pastor and family can be supported for $70 per month. Though we will be graduating 4 Ijaw Pastors this June, with the newly committed students, NIM will be continuing their support as they enter the full-time ministry. As the church buildings are built and the accompanying stores are made functional, the plan is to rotate the Pastor off of salary within 3 months time. This frees up money to redirect to incoming Students.
The following are the names of our current student enrollment:
1. Daniel Ejeni (Married)
2. John Kiliki (Married)
3. Oweigibor Goodluck (Married)
4. Imole Lagos
5. Joseph Agwosi
6. Christian Etan
Along with our current Pastors, the support for 2004 will total $8,400.00
This is an increase of $5,040.00 over last years budget.
Building Ijaw Churches ($12,000.00)
NIM plans on building the next church in the town of Ogbudugbudu and would like to construct a 4th church later in the year. These facilities cost $6,000 each to build. This will be $12,000.00 for 2004.
Ministry Motor Boat ($7,000.00)
Travel among the Ijaw villages of the Niger Delta is nearly impossible without a boat. The purchase of a good used fiberglass boat and new motor will cost us $7,000.
A Medical Facility ($6,800.00)
NIM is very excited to announce the establishing of High Impact Christian Clinic in the town of Ajakurama! There is presently NO MEDICAL FACILITY AT ALL in the region. Our Pastor DeRock, of Ajakurama is presently providing the medical services for that entire region. He read a Jungle Medicine manual and has been the acting Doctor ever since. He sews up wounds, delivers babies, gives injections and other minor medical treatments. We have decided to obtain the use of a vacant 4 bedroom house in Ajakurama, supply it with a few beds and medical supplies, for starters; and open up a clinic. The plan calls for Pastor DeRock to hire 1 or more professionally trained Ijaw nurses to staff the facility. Such a clinic will be a HUGE service to the entire region as well as a massive evangelistic outreach opportunity. Once this project is initiated we will have a medical base that we can bring healthcare professionals from the U.S. to, in order to offer advanced training and services.
The initial cost for beds, basic equipment and medical supplies is an estimated $4,000.00. The salary of a professional nurse is approximately $150 per month / $1,800.00 annually. The cost of renting the house is $22.00 monthly, $264 per year and the owners want a 3 year lease amounting to $792.00. So we are looking at about $6,800.00 in 2004 to start High Impact Christian Clinic.
Travel and Crusades ($3,600.00)
Estimating one trip with 4 crusades comes to $3,600.00
Our total budget projection for 2004 is $37,800.00
This represents an increase of $13,000.00 over last years budget.
We at NIM are very pleased to present these missions projects to you. You can rest assured, knowing that your contributions are winning to Christ many among this previously unreached people group, training indigenous Pastors, planting and building churches, and now building the first medical treatment facility in the Egbema Kingdom (500,000 people). Truly, your contributions are funding the 29th chapter of The Acts Of The Apostles!
Please prayerfully consider giving generously this year towards our projects and be sure to share the work of Nigeria-Ijaw Mission with your friends.
Yours In The Yoke Of Christ,
Pastor Nick Champlin
